I'm trying to figure our if I have a provlem with my Duraspark dizzy or cam. With the dizzy installed in my 351W blocked engine, there is a little slop in the dizzy shaft. Not the movement from the mechanical advance, but slop in the shaft.

I removed all the parts related to the mechanical advance in order to recurve the dizzy (again.) While at it, I noticed that the shaft had slop in it. The slop is rotational only. The shaft ***clicks*** about 1/16 of an inch.

I'm letting the camcorder charge and I'll take a video in a little while.

What do y'all think? Normal gear meshing? The cam is new, the gear on the dizzy is cast like the cam gear, the motor was broken in properly.

I agree probably normal gear meshing. Worst case just pull the dizzy and inspect the gear for wear.
