I've seen posts about how hard it is to source gas doors these days. The other day, I was at the pick & pull, and saw many options..... 1st gen explorer, 1st & 2nd gen Ranger, Jeep Cherokee, and many more. Has anyone tried going that route?

Adding doors to the sheet metal is the easy part. They are available from quite a few other Fords. The tough part is the inner quarter panel. It is deeper on a '77 so the filler bucket and filler neck will fit.
I am curious though, how many non '77s have gas doors?

I have a 77' w/ doors, plan to keep the doors stock, but have been consdering changing the filler to the new-style Ford necks with no cap.

You can get new metal from the vendors for the inner quarter to make the room needed fro the 77 fuel door. The tough part is getting the proper fitting neck plate though you could probably make one with a little time and patience.
