Bought my bronco about 2 months ago. Doors were out or alignment so I took them off. Door posts seem to be in good (enough) shape but a lot of rocking for the hinges. Ease of removal isn't a big issue but I'm trying to figure out which type will be easiest to align. Thank you

I would think all reputable Bronco places sell new or rebuilt hinges that won't have any play in them making it a simple job of replacing the hinges and then a MUCH more difficult job of shimming or moving the hinge plate on either the door or the jamb or both 1/2 dozen or more times to get the door to align to your standards...

Remember, the body can move on the frame over time on the body bushings, doors get tweaked...you might not ever get it back to a perfect fit.

I bought standard issue hinges. Hinges are not the problem. The Bronco is the problem. It only took me ~350 attempts to get my doors almost perfectly aligned. Arm yourself with plenty of door shims and patience. As stated, some people have also shimmed body mounts with large washers. I didn't need to do that, but it is maddening adjusting the hinges.

Not to hijack but my passenger door fits and closes just about perfect but my drivers side has never closed right. Its sunken in at the hinge about 1/4" and it sticks out a little more than that at the latch. If you close it slowly you can see the door lifting up to engage the post and there is no more adjustment left at the striker post

Would shims for the hinges solve that first problem? How do I get a tighter fit at the latch?

Should I start at the body mounts first though? I have not checked those but I did see some nuts were missing

Check your body mount bushings. If they're not firm and are cracked apart it could effect the alignment of your doors.

Doors stink, easier to do a motor swap! It is a combination of spacing, shims, body mounts, hope the truck is still straight, it is a pain.

Good job ! On your videos I always enjoy them. I don't know how you deal making a video and breaking bolts . If I was being filmed at the time when it went sideways..... well let's just say it's not pretty but I have been told it's funny from someone else prospective. Just ask my son.
Back to the topic ...,

So when you start jacking up the body mount and see improvement with the doors, are people adding metal shims?

Something like this from Ace/OReillys?

Yep!This ^^^^^ I still don't have mine right and I have everything new, hinges, door posts, complete full blown restomod, almost road worthy then its going to the body shop for alignment and closing the gaps. I finally got the doors to open and close ok but I still have to lift the drivers side door an inch to close completely. IT SUUUCKS!!!!:-[%):(:eek:?:?
