Does someone sell these or do I have to have a machine shop make them? Is it worth trying to find used ones? I would prefer stainless steel.

I would bag the stainless idea, one or two times thur with a door bolt under tork and the threads would be gone.I would use cold rolled 3/8"x flat bar painted, would last forever.

Mine were shot when I replaced the backside of the doorposts. I used 1/4" thick steel because that's what I had on hand plus that's was in there originally. Just cut it out the right size and used the old one as a pattern to drill & tap the new one. Sprayed it down with zinc paint before hiding it. Worked out pretty good.

The hard part was rebuilding the piece that holds that plate in place.

Good luck!

i have a bolt broken off in my upper passenger hinge, i'm going to have to address this one day too.

Thanks for all the advice. Tom's does have them for $18, but the shipping is $12. What's up with that? I'll have them made. Thanks!

for the broken bolts, i'd try to use a number of various methods of extraction before i went through the trouble of opening up the panel and retainer.
