door/rocker panel gap

I searched, but could not find a good thread on the recommended gap between door bottom and rocker panel.

I am installing aftermarket 2 sided rockers and am curious what the gap should be. I have the rocker in what I think is the best position, but there I notice the gap between the two.

If you can take some pics and post them up. Like to see how your install is going to.

Good quality paint stick thickness is what I used. Just be sure the door is aligned to the fenders on both ends correctly.

Mine is probably two paintstick width, but everything else is lined up perfect.

Maybe that's the way the rockers are designed, bigger gap than standard fit.

When Ford built my Bronco On the passengers side the gap was about 3/16".
On the drivers side they mounted the rocker cockeyed and was 1/4" on the front and over 3/8" on the rear.
On the passengers side they skipped welding about 12 spot welds where the top of the rocker met the floor pan. This was held together with the plastic pins holding the door seal.
Funny thing the drivers door always closed well and the passengers door always needed agressive manuvers when closing the door. I got the truck with 10,000 miles on it and the origional owner took it back to Ford for passenger door realignment several times trying to correct the issue to no avail. My truck must have been built on the night shift just before a 3 day holiday weekend.
Remember Fords Motto "Quality is Job 1"
So the real question is what gap should you use. What ever lines up with the bottom of the fender and the bottom of the rear Quarter. A little extra gap at the bottom is perferable if your running door gaskits especially with the new gaskits we have today. Too tight and you going to have closure issues.

Great answer, thanks! I was thinking the same thing, just line up the bottoms and be happy with it.
