So according to there Facebook page Durhamtown telico is closing.

"Thanks to the Division of Minerals ,Energy and Land Rersources,
Durhamtown Tellico will close on Sept 8 permanently They are declaring the Timber cutting on the property is for the sole purpose of building atv trails. Therefore we must comply by commercial development standards. Permits and paper work will excede $350,000 or I can fight them in Federal Court. This is our government still controlling our private property rights. I am sadden to announce this for I have spent over $250,000 and operated in a professional standard of land preservation. 2 govt agencies agree with me buy the 3rd wants the ultimate motive.
Timber cutting has been part of this property for over 100 years"

Another one bites the dust. I wanted to make it there too.

FYI- Mountain City, TN was not a government decision at all. That was a decision of a surviving family member of the owner when he passed. She didn't want to run it from her new home in FL and didn't trust the rest of the family. They had it figured out though... they pulled all the permits a couple of times a year to remove timber for sale and we just used the roads and trails they left behind. Alot of the locals are still using the trails illegally...

Yeah,

I'm aware of what happened at Mountain City. Point is another place lost for wheeling.

That is too bad. I have a place in Murphy and was planning a trip there to see it. Guess I won't now.
