Hey guys, I went to durhamtown Tellico in Murphy, NC this past weekend to check it out. The park has a lot of potential in my opinion. I just wanted to share some pictures for the southeast guys to see what it’s about. I will definitely be back there. Most trails are still new, but with more riding and rain there will be a lot of intermediate trails due to the steep terrain. There are a few good rock piles/ ledges to play on. The park is about 3800 acres and they were cleaning out for new trails when I was there Saturday.

Hey now be careful about saying just Durhamtown!!! They have Durhamtown Plantation here in middle GA!!!%)%)

Yea for sure, I had this dicussion with a guy that works there. There is some confusion with the name. Half the group i went with thought we were going to durhamtown in GA and the other half thought we were going to tellico.

I'm going in a couple weeks. Have they figured out a decent camping area? It seems like that was lacking, when I talked to them a couple months ago. I was bummed to find out Crawfords shut down for good, since that was my choice for camping.

Not yet. They started clearing land for camping, but it was stopped for some reason (hope this isnt a sign of things to come). When I was headed out of the park I saw a few razors headed in with camping gear so there could of been something i didnt see.

Hey is that close to Appalachia lake? or Hiwassee lake?

Just noticed the town and that is where my wife grew up Murphy, just out side of Murphy, she said it kinda looked like some of the places her dad and the family would go in his truck he had.

Yes it is. I think the land this park is on use to be known as snowbird.

They told me if we were camping, the campsite were on the trails. Meaning the only way to your tent was by trail rig. They do have cabins on the trail, also only accessible by trail rig. It makes me want to make my pop-up an off road version...I just needed a reason. But they said if I was bringing a camper, that I could set up in the parking area. They are working on a better camping area. This is what they have for now. I don't like camping away from tow rig/tools/spare parts. This will make it difficult for a lot of guys.

Just wanted to update this a bit. I was less than enthusiastic with my last post. Luckily, I did have enough sense to add, the place would probably change over the winter with traffic etc. compared to last fall.
Some of my local buds went the weekend before Easter and had a great time. One bud who has a full bodied ranger truggy similar to mine posted a vid of a uphill rock slab he was unable to climb. Not for lack of tire rubber sacrificed- The other trails seem to be improving and they were complimentary in their report. So, sounds like the 2015 is looking up. Hope the group has fun and post up your impressions :)
