Anybody that has put in dynamat or other insulation I would like to know how it is doing in wet conditions. It seems like my floor boards are always getting wet and I don't want to use something thick like the eastwood mat that looks like it will sponge up water and hold it to cause more rust or am I wrong? I am putting in new floor boards now and don't want them to rust out again. Thanks Keith

Paint is the best way to prevent rust. Several light coats are far better than 1 heavy coat. But if you've already applied undercoating, I'd leave it. It'll still take decades for the floor to rust out again.

If you eliminate all the pockets that vent to the outside, DynaMat or any adhesive mat should prevent rust. Pockets that hold pressure (bubbles) aren't vented, so no water can get into them anyway. Don't pop them unless you really mash them closed again.

I will epoxy primer and paint it. I want to know if the Dynamat or other insulation holds moisture or how it has held up after it gets wet. Thanks Keith

I've got red oxide primer (sell it at walmart) with a layer of rammat on it. Once I get done cutting holes in the floor I'm going to spray raptor liner or similar on it. Should outlast me lol.

I was under the assumption that Dynamat was for sound deadening (noise barrier) and not simply insulation (heat barrier). If you are needing a nice sound deadening product, you might look at Quiet Car. http://www.quietcar.net/ I used this in my wife's Escape, it was awesome. As far as insulation (heat barrier) in the vehicle, I'm not sure what you would put in that wouldn't possibly hold water. Like others have said, apply good moisture barriers to the metal to keep the water away in the first place.
