Hi,
I recently purchased a 1971 Bronco restomod. I’m looking at purchasing a hard top, but I’m trying to confirm whether it will work with my roll cage. If anyone has an early Bronco with a hard top, could you possibly tell me what the height is from the floor of the Bronco to the ceiling of the hard top? Any help is appreciated!

However, the one part of my rollcage sitting under a hartop with a headliner sits about 43 inches. But again, it changes all over the top.

Hey Brant, welcome!
Can you tell if your bar looks like something totally custom made? Or perhaps more off-the-shelf looking?
Got a pic you can post up? To post directly to this discussion you need to be a contributor for 12bucks a year, but you can also upload them to your "Garage" and "Gallery" features in your User CP above.

Luckily, pretty much every bar and cage ever built was made to fit under both hard and soft tops. But it's once you get into custom stuff that you have issues.

Thank you all for the help. I really appreciate it. I’m not sure, but I’m going to guess it’s not a custom roll cage. I measured behind the driver seat to the top of the windshield and it was about 41 inches, but it was higher in the front under the windshield. I’m guessing it’s safe, just worried about the nightmare of buying a hardtop that doesn’t fit.

Good morning all. I have a 66 bronco with what I believe is a custom rock crawler roll cage. It does not look like the "family cage" that I see online. The highest point is 41.5" in the center. It has bracing from front posts along the floors and are custom built around the floor and include seat risers/attachment points. My issue is this rampage brand soft top. The forward bow doesn't fit around the rollcage to drop like it should, nor do the uprights next to the window frames near the doors. I'm wondering if I need to have a different rollcage or if there's a better soft top than the rampage model #98435? Thanks for any help!

Hey there. Welcome to classic.
When you say the bow doesn’t drop like it should, do you mean that it won’t drop down and fit to the top the windshield? Or that when you want to fold the top down it won’t rotate back cleanly?
Sounds like a pretty custom cage, but if it fits around it, then it was probably built with the top in mind.
These don’t always simply fold down like a convertible top does anyway, so having to go through a few extra motions to get it to work, might not be the end of the world.
More hassle, yes. But workable.
That said, the Bestop does differ slightly in that front area and the riser and top to fit taller in the front windshield area. But I can’t say that the bow would fit any better.
If you have pictures that you could put in your garage or a gallery, or email to one of us with the contributor status so we can post them up, that might tell the tale.
Or you can become a contributor for $12 a year and post them up directly to your thread. Might be a lot to swallow when you have just joined a group, but ease of posting images helps a lot when you’re trying to diagnose things.

Have you been driving the bronco long? Or is it brand new to you?
Good luck with the solution. If you end up needing a longer discussion on the top issue, definitely start your own thread with that in the title.
But no worries. Joining in this discussion was a good way to get more eyes on it immediately.
