Has anyone fabricated a fastback hard top for an early bronco?

for me the slanted half cab does not work, the lines of the bronco are square and straight with very little angle. If the wings of a modified top followed the flow of a roll bar and went all the way back, maybe.

Ideas I have saved. I like the full top cut to a 1/2 cab and then the left over being a topper for the bed. Not really a fastback design, but at least some ideas.

Interesting concept and nice ketch! Does not look easy to fab though.

Agreed...pretty good size piece of glass in a hatch back that has to open. And the louvers would have to hinge up to wash the glass. Not sure how they did that as I don’t know anyone that’s owned one. Seems like there was some metal framework in there. Working with fiberglass is doable in a home shop, but making a model and mold would be a whole nother story. To do it out of steel or an existing top would take a lot of skill.

Yup, I like those tapered half cabs as well! They look even better than the early extended cab pickups. My existing roll bar would have to come out the back which would make for interesting design work.

I wish I could have bought one vice making it! :) Took a long time fabricating to ensure both window openings were identical. I did install a *eep windjammer to help with the swirling wind, but would much prefer a soft top for the back to keep the rain out...if and when that happens around my neck of the woods %)

Whose is this? Looks identical to the one I made. I sold it to someone in VA about 8 years ago.

EDIT: The rear sails are a bit shorter so not my old one, but very close!!

Looks like Jeep was thinking along these lines (sorry for saying the "j" word). Here's a pic of two identical Jeeps, one with the squared off boxy looking top and one with a slant to it. I like the later. And hey, there's even a nice looking EB in this pic. ;D :p ;)

I feel that a "HMMWV turtle back" is the look and a better example of you want, but in a soft top right?

Oh come on now, not all concept drawings are home runs. Relish in the fact that you swung and got a piece of it, that's what counts.

Yea..I’ve got a pre-paid card with some bucks left on it.. just need to find it. The downside is my rusty drawing will really show up. LOL
