Hello,

Can some one verify if the 1966 Bronco rear shock mounts were welded in a different location than the later 67-77 Broncos? I am just speculating 1967 was the year the rear shock mount location was changed?

Any and all information pertaining to the two different rear shock mount locations would be helpful.

If any members have pics of the two different rear factory set ups would be nice to see.

I have a 67 bronco however i am not sure if it is sitting on the original frame. I have been noticing some odd ball stuff lol

Than you in advance

Cheers

Nice looking build 1strodeo. No VIN on frame. Do you have any side pics of the rear end. Perhaps a birds eye view above the rear wheel showing the shock mount?

The change was mid-'66 from what I remember. With the early models getting the forward leaning mounts, utilizing a stud/stem type upper shock mount.
Later models got the more familiar rearward leaning mounts with eyes at both ends of the shock.

Sorry I don't have pics of the early style, but there are several good ones hereabouts on the forum somewhere. Haven't seen them posted lately, but will try to find some if nobody comes up with them.

No VIN on frame

Your frame has a VIN, top of passenger side frame rail about 6” forward of the firewall, may be caked with grime but it’s there, if you can’t see it get after it with a wire brush

The VIN is also stamped farther back on top of the passenger side frame rail.
Be careful with rust and grime removal, the stamping is not very deep and can get wiped out.

I have had this bronco frame with out a body on it for several years just sitting in my back yard. This particular bronco was in the middle of a restomod back in the mid 90's

The guy i bought it from gave up on the project. He had the frame blasted and painted so it is clean a whistle other than some light surface rust fdrom sitting for the past 20+ years. I believe the VIN got wiped out back when the previous owner did the media blasting

Thank you all for your time and getting me the info i was looking for.

Cheers

You're welcome.

So, do you think the frame is 66? Do you have a title for it? From your initial post I thought you were asking about the frame your 67 is sitting on.

i believe the frame is original to my 67. I just wasn't sure when the rear shock mount changed. I see now that it was only in 1966 the shock was in a different placement than the rest of the production years
