EFI and Fuel pump cam

Do I need to keep the fuel pump cam that bolts on to the cam gear? I have an 88 Lincoln motor, going to mass air. The reason I ask is, the cam/ washer hits the inside of the Explorer timing cover. Can I just leave it off?

Thanks,
Rodd

You will need to remove it. Make sure your washer covers the cam drive pin to prevent it from ever walking out of the bore.

I thought so, but just wanted to double check. Thanks for the heads up on the cam pin, I will make sure.

Thanks

After you remove the eccentric measure the clearance from the bolt head to the timing cover. I had to grind my bolt down slightly.
