I use a shop vac to get as much of the coolant out as I can , plus paper towels etc.
You should be good after that.

I had to use the intake gasket part number for my 69 motor and heads , the Explorer gasket leaked like a sieve. So , yeah , I been where you are.

The posts I read said to use a small amount of rtv on the corners of the oil gaskets** and a very thin layer around the water jackets to seal them up.

**or skip the little cork oil gaskets and just use a good bead of rtv. Which is what I did , but after a few years , my old ass motor has so much blow-by , I think it blew out the rtv a little bit during one of my hi-rpm moments.
The decision is yours to make ....

the felpro 1250 gasket has the raised blue seals and will seal your combo great.

as mentioned throw the end gaskets in the trash and run a FAT bead of silicon on the ends. let it set overnight before starting it back up.
