My rig has been running like a dream for three months. I went to start it the other day and the motor cranks fine but wont start. I can't hear the fuel pump run when I cycle the key. I did everything to the truck except wire it , can anyone give me a quick list of things to check, like relays or fuses. By the way its an '88 mustang speed density 5.0.

If you do a search on www.fordduelinjection.com or sbftech.com (Joel's 5.0 engine management tech forum), you should be able to find lots of help on what to check. A coupleo fthings come to mind. At the self test connectors, you should be able to short (jumper) the self test and another circuit--it slips me at this point to get the fuel pump to run. This procedure will be covered in FFI efi harness install for "priming the fuel pump". If the pump is working...you can check this by turning on the pump and looking at your FP guage--you do have a fuel pressure guage up on the fuel rails, right? If not you might consider installing one. This will tell you if you have fuel pressure. I take it you have already checked your fuel filters.

Beyond fuel, we go to spark. There is a "no start" sticky,I believe on Joel's EFI tech forum on SBFtech.com. It takes you through spark, fuel, ecm...this should get you going. http://sbftech.com/index.php?board=20.0

There you go. Good luck.

I'm having a similar issue with my efi conversion. My problem is with the fuel pump relay, they keep going out on me. If the problem is not the relay; I'd be curious as to what type of relays you are using so that I may look into one up.

I was using some FMS relays until this past weekend when I pressure washed the sh!+ out of them...they were hanging up-side down, so after sitting (with water pooled in them) they shorted and turned on at some point in the middle of the night. Came out the next morning and the pumps were running. Anyway, the relays I picked up were from AuZo...sem fine, but I have an extra set as well. Relays are cheap, carry extras.

Bronc484, as to what other problems you might be having; you need to give more details. Someone here on on one of the other sites shoudl be able to help.

I just completed my EFI swap, and after a week of driving with no issues, it would not start after lunch one day. I kept looking at what I thought was the fuel pump relay, and taking voltage readings which were low, but not enough to keep the pump from running. Long story short-----I had to call my very pregnant wife to unload my Dodge, and load up the tow bar and drive 25 miles so I could tow it home. I installed the new pump, and had already started pulling wires, and harnesses apart when I looked at the other relay next to the one I was fooling with, it was obviously burned. New relay, hit the starter and away I went. When I took the old fuel pump apart, I found some rubber hose cuttings in the pump intake end. So far no other issues!!

Well I replaced the pump relay and the rig started on the first crank. Thanks for everyone's help.
