Lots of options out there for pumps and filters....what are you running for your external fuel pump, pre and post filters? All frame mounted I assume?

Any pitfalls I should watch for?

Thanks

I have been running a high pressure pump bolted to the frame back close to the tank with a filter in front of it for about 10 years with absolutely no problems. Back when I was building mine I know some people were doing the low pressure pump to suck from the tank, then a high pressure pump to push it up to the engine with a big filter in between, but I never found the need to switch to that setup. I think mine is the same pump used on a 95 F150 or something like that. I rockcrawl with this setup, going up and down some pretty sketchy stuff and never had even a hickup with fuel delivery.

External EFI Pump

PDQ,

I now have an EFI tank with internal pump.

I ran an external pump when I first did my conversion in 2010. I ran my pump with an in-line filter before the pump on the frame rail on the passenger side. These kind of pumps push better than pull. Drawback to that location is heat from the dual exhaust. It would vapor lock on hot days. If you can get it to prime, it would be better between the frame rails near the gas tank. I do not have any pictures of this setup. Hopefully someone else will chime in and have pictures. Good luck

v/r,

Thanks much for the feedback. Any preferences on pumps or filters?

A lot of people use E-2000 pumps or Bosch 69100 pumps. I've used a used 69100 pump on my truck that I installed back in 1997 and probably 130K miles ago. I picked it off an '88 frame in the JY that probably had a zillion miles on it already. $20. Still going strong.

Bosch pump is pretty loud. Walbro is much much more quiet. I have fancy holley pumps. Very quiet.

E2K and no issues in 3 years. Stock tank and pickup. I've ran the tank down to less than a gallon and no fuel starving isseus.

Cheap pre-filter and a EFI after filter I got from Summit.

Mounting on frame be sure to mount it far away from all heat sources. Too much heat on pump can cause vapor lock. Ask me how I know. Now have in-tank pump.

I ran one for years then put a quiet exhaust on , could't stand the noise so went in tank.

I did the 2 pump set up.
I'm currently rebuilding the entire rig, it will have one pump , frame mounted right near the tank where the lp pump was.
E2000.

I did this set up on a 77 Bronco with Mustang EFI conversion...

Mustang post filter, Mustang pump, standard fuel filter as a pre-filter, used the mount from my old 2002 F250 diesel, factory 14 gal rear tank as requested by the Owner. (He regrets it now, told him to go bigger)

Based on Timmy390 set up. Personally, I prefer in tank pumps...

What is a E-2000 pump?

E series van from the 2000’s?

Thanks!

Bosch 69100 here. I personally do not think it is loud at all. That said, the exhaust is loud and I had a super loud Carter for my previous carb setup.

Mounted it on the outside of the drivers side frame above the axle (basically next to the tire)
No pusher pump feeding it and have had zero problems with the Sniper (fuel-wise).
