Efi Hard Cold Starting Problems

Bronco starts fine when warmed up, when cold takes several tries to get it started. Thought it was fuel pressure, changed regulator no change, fuel pressure is 38. Looked up specs in ALLDATA KOEO 35-45, KOER 30-40 psi. Checked codes got (24) ACT out of temp, (67) neutral safety circuit failure Code (24) went away when engine warmed up. I did a search on this, and in 5/05 there was a thread (EFI starting question) with the same symtons as mine, but it was never resolved. Leaning toward ignition now?

Code 24 should not be generated when the engine is off and cold. Any of the temperature sensors can effect the mixture. I would swap out or check the intake air temperature sensor. I sometimes try a shot of propane from a torch to see if it starts right up. That isolates the problem to fuel.

I tried your propane trick, it fired right up then died. So its a fuel problem but I dont know if its computer control problem or a fuel system problem.

Try and cycle the key a few times to prime the system first, before starting.
