EFI Idle Surge Help

Ever since I tipped over last fall I have been fighting an idle surge. It didn’t do it before and so far I haven’t been able to figure it out. While the engine is sitting at idle the RPMs will surge by a few hundred RPM and then return to idle. I’ve check for vacuum leaks thinking maybe a hose came loose in the tip over. I haven’t found any leaks. I ran the codes and came up with the following…

KOEO
21 – ECT out of self test range .03V to 3.7V
81 – Air management 2 circuit failure (AM2/TAD)
82 – There was no code listed for KOEO???
85 – Canister purge solenoid failure
84 – EGR vacuum solenoid failure

I do not believe any of these are a big issue as I do not have the purge canister or EGR. I’m not sure about the test range voltage???

KOER
21- ECT out of self test range .03V to 3.7V
94 – Thermactor Air Injection system inoperative (Left side)
44 - Thermactor Air Injection system inoperative (Right side).
33 – EGR valve opening not detected

Again, other than the voltage I don’t think I have the air injection system and I know I don’t have an EGR.

I’ve been checking wiring next but don’t see anything out of the norm.

What more should I be looking at?

Also, I still have my idle hanging issue that has been there since I installed the 5.0L. I’d like to get that fixed some day too but so far everything I’ve read about and tried hasn’t worked.

Thanks for any words of wisdom offered.

I have a new IAC and it didn't help.

Hmmm, I didn't know there was a special cleaner for the MAF?

I would start with the ECT out of range, it will throw your mixture off.

your ect is more than likely telling the ecm wrong temp info. the ect sensor will effect a great deal of things like your iac for instance.

Hi Ransil, I don't have the S&P connectors. I'm running Ryan's harness but I can check all the conectors to make sure they are in good shape. Thanks

CRC Mass Air Flow Sensor Cleaner is the safe and effective alternative to "underground" methods of MAF sensor cleaning. Don't us aggressive chemicals like brake parts cleaners or carburetor cleaners on MAF sensors. These can cause serious damage to sensitive parts. Use CRC MAF Sensor Cleaner -- It's the right product for the job! It safely and easily cleans the MAF hotwires and electrical components without damage to the wires or plastic housing. Cleaning is simple, safe and fast. The whole job should take less than 10 minutes!
