Today I went ahead and replaced all of the rubber vac plugs with vinyl ones. I noticed some oil in the intake when the plugs on the plenum were removed. I moved the pcv line to the plenum vac port and moved the fuel regulator vac to the back of the intake(I had it on one of the smaller vac ports on the front side of the intake before.) I just used a reducer on one of the larger vac ports on the back. I also put my old iac on the truck and that really seemed to help the idle. I wonder if the new iac from the local parts store was junk. Over all it now seems to be running better and I even pulled it outside and let it warm up in 24 degree weather and it idled fine and warmed up without a problem. I did another KOER and got 94, 44, 33.

Well just wanted to update the issues I have been having. I have been busy with the xmas season and work, but have found some time to work on it. The truck seems to be idling better, but I still have the miss under hard acceleration. I ordered up a fuel pressure gauge, tach, and new tfi. I removed the tfi today and it said made in Hong Kong and pissed me off so I decided to add that to the (throw parts at it) list. Hopefully getting the idle set 100% correct and then checking the fuel pressure will eliminate some of my variables. Also since my last post I have checked or repaired the following.

Pulled the fuel filter and on the dirty side the fuel looks great with no grit or anything coming from the filter. Replaced my plug wires for free (thanks to summit racing). Installed some fiberglass plug boots. Cleaned and tightened up the 10 pin connectors. Cleaned the iac connectors and distributor tfi hookup. Pulled all of the plugs and rechecked their gaps(all good). Also made sure tdc and dizzy location.

70mm MAF you say. I go for the MAF out of calibration under high loads. Is that MAF for larger injectors?
You tried a 55mm MAF, is it the right one for the ECM. Not the magical internet lore of one MAF will work on 100 different cars, but actually the right MAF for that exact ECM?

Yeah this is one place where I am not 100%. I got a 55mm with the efi setup/motor. I bought a 70mm housing and put the sensor from the 55 in it. :-X I was told this works fine but was not for sure on that. That's why I put the 55mm housing back in and the backfire and weird idle still happened. I would like to eliminate this from my list of things to check, so any words of advise on the maf would be greatly appreciated. I have 19lb ev6 injectors that I upgraded to. They are also on my list things to check into because of them being used.

That is a no no. The sensor is matched to the housing. You need a A1A or A2A sensor with the 70mm housing.

Well I will throw the 55mm back in the truck and see what happens. Where would one of these a1a or a2a sensors come from vehicle wise.

How about throwing the 55mm housing on the bronco with that sensor, reset the eec and see how it runs.

Here is a donor list. Some, not all have the a1a or a2a sensor but all should have the 70mm housing.

92-95 SuperCoupe, 70mm for 3.6's
Ford Mustang 1994-1995 V6 or 5.0L 70mm
Ford Crown Victoria 1992-1994 4.6L 70mm
Lincoln Towncar 1992-1994 4.6L 70mm
Mercury Grand Marquis 1992-1994 4.6L 70mm
94-97 Thunderbird 4.6 70mm

Btw, if ur gonna run a 70mm maf, you should consider removing the next air restriction down the line and run a larger tb. 65mm explorer or 70mm aftermarket should do you just fine.

It is an explorer tb on the truck with a 70mm egr delete spacer. I had the same setup on my mustang and never ran into this problem.....because I had a cobra maf and 24lb injectors with my supercharger. Took the bronc to lunch today and it runs like a beast. Thanks again for the help!
