It's sort of a band aid fix for a clogged up AIC valve or other underlying problems but "sometimes" they work.

Not sure what you mean by "idle issues" but just warning people about possibly needlessly spending $60 for something that may or may not work out. From what I've seen and read by many others who have used it and I have 3 of the kits myself it's not needed in most cases. It's good practice to research and read as many thoughts on a product before buying imo.

Just wondering how it adjusts the idle when the computer is still trying to compensate based on it's tach signal from the TFI module?
Is there something else with the kit, or is just the hardware supposed to take care of all that?

Seems like a nice simple solution, if it would work for everybody.
Glad it worked for you NYLES. Did you just install it, or have you run it for awhile now?

And sorry if I don't remember, but what exactly was your problem before.

Thanks

Paul

You can still get them from Ford.
I used one I found in the junkyard as a spacer for my IAC when using the BC throttle cable adapter.

You are correct, the ecu still manages the idle speed, the plate is a band aid fix for a sludged up AIC valve. It's faster and cheaper for ford to have ford techs to install it to fix warranty claims rather than replacing or de-gunking aic valves.
Idle issues or wierd cams should be fixed by proper tuning and the correct properly working components. Attached is Ford's offical tsb for it if you don't believe me.

No disbelief (of either or you) expressed or implied, as the lawyers say.

But by that same token though, wouldn't that part then naturally have some compensatory value for the effects of a deeper breathing cam with a stock IAB?
Maybe I'm reading too much into it's ability, but if it works for some (Band-Aid or not), that's a good thing. For them at least.
The unfortunate thing about that of course, is for the people it won't work for. Where, as you say, your $60 is better spent elsewhere.

I like the TSB's wording, where they say to "goose" the engine. Never knew that was an official technical term!

Thanks for that info.
