got the motor ready to re-assemble efi parts. i think the engine bay should be body color, what color would look best on this explorer efi front dress and efi. the body color will be limestone poly. let me know what you think. all body trim will be semi-gloss black.

I agree, the engine bay needs to be body color.

For a number of reasons I ended up painting my engine bay black on a maroon colored Bronco. It looks like crap. The first opportunity I have to repaint it I will.

Guess that answers that!

well half of it. i still want to know what will look good on the engine and accessories, or even if is worth the effort. could just go all aluminum with black valve covers. but i thought it might look good to powder coat some of the front dress and efi intakes.

For the engine and accessories why not Ford engine blue?

Black would be fine for the valve covers and oil pan, give a little contrast.

I have seen the brackets for the serpentine drive done in Ford engine blue and like that.

The intake?
Ford blue or black or polished and cleared aluminum?

For my engine bay I'm thinking a Hammertone or other textured gray.

Candy Apple Red (which is the body color) just doesn't go with the colors I like for engines, and the trim color I want is John Deere Blitz Black which is too dark for the engine bay.

If you argue that the engine bay must be body color because that is original, then the original color for the engine is Ford Blue.

Personally I like Crushes' idea. That would look sharp with the green, wouldn't clash like a lot of Ford Blue.

I powder coated all mine a silver texture so they will look new all the time.
Engine bay is black now, but who knows down the road.

Here's a better view of the upper. Still need to clean the lines up a bit but you get the idea.

IMO block should be Ford Blue period. I prefer the lighter early blue. All dress accessories can be aluminum and/or black with a few other colors mixed in. You can accent some of the accesories the body color as well.

I ended up going with black on my engine and body color in the engine bay. One of the reasons I went with black is because Ford blue would have looked really ugly against the body color.

as usual yall give a member plenty of options. i am thinking body color for engine bay, then silver or gray and splash of the body color mixed in somewhere like on the top plate for the intake or the lettering on the valve covers. just a thought. those blues lines on the intake look like a lot of work. i like them.

IMO the engine block, oil pan, and heads need to be Ford Blue, to keep the theme of the Blue Oval. There is a lighter & darker color Ford Blue.
The front dress and top dress accessories can be aluminum, or polished, or whatever color you like. When the engine is viewed from the bottom-up, there's no mistaking the Ford Blue heart of the classic.
And NO oil leaks! If/when it gets a leak, fix it, LOL. There isn't much more gross than having your engine puke oil all over the goodies underneath it.

For a carb engine I like the factory Ford Racing air cleaner housing to add a little bling
