Exploder PS reservoir; fitting it under the hood

is there an alternative to the stock PS reservoir? I have a fiberglass hood and am having a helluva time getting that F-er to fit, even moving it down and back so much that the low pressure hose from the pump to reservoir makes contact with the valve cover (which I hope is okay, maybe I can use muffler tape or something).

I got the hood to close but it is making contact which I would imagine would eventually lead to the plastic cracking and breaking so hoping for the always elusive magic fix or someone's creative mounting idea.

You mean the big hose going to the pump? MIne rides right between the valve cover and and bracket and I don't worry about it. All those parts move together so there really shouldn't be any wearing going on.

mounting

I don't know your set-up, but in the tech section under explorer serp setup they go into how to mount the explorer pump reservoir to clear the hood.

you can also shave the front edge of the cap to gain a bit of clearance. it hits on the nub.
other option is to go to aftermarket remote like WH sells and mount it on the core support.

suggestion:
put some playdo or something soft on the cap and see where it hits your hood as you lower it slowly. you'll see what you have to work with at that point.

Yes, it sounds like you have used up about all the give there is on the stock Exploder res. Moving it to the core support or the firewall with a long hose would be the next step. It's a "remote reservoir" in theory as it stands now. So why not just make it "remote" for sure.

I have a fiberglass hood so maybe it will be fine if it makes contact. If I can't get the fluid level correct I now know to go check out the WH kit and go really remote- thanks guys.
