I've heard of people really messing up their injectors that way but maybe a 9v battery is low enough voltage to be ok. (injectors aren't meant to get one constant voltage--but I also heard they get hot and you can tell when to stop, so I'm not sure but just a warning).
I got this test kit I used to clean mine. Worked great for me. I knew mine didn't need to be rebuilt though. I've done the orings a couple times.
I sprayed carb cleaner through each injector for a few second using the pule selection #8, then went through them again a second round making sure all the spray patterns were perfect.
One thing to note before you do this is that if you soak them, that carb cleaner removes the black paint from the lower section of the injector as well.

In this kit, there is an attachment that fits our injectors. You hold the injector firmly in place, hit the button to start the pulsing, and push onto the top of the carb cleaner can into the attachment at the same time.
I tested each injector before the carb cleaner step to know if it was operational.
I did this with two sets and the other set had a couple that were stuck and I was able to get them unstuck.
