Explorer 4 g alt mounting bolt size

I'm pretty sure there are no metric sizes in the head or block.

Can't help with exact size as mine isn't ready to be installed either.

The head and block are all std so that they match all the way back to the 260.

Unfortunately these are the three in the bracket itself that holds the Alt on and there are some metric threads on the bracket.

sounds like a trip to Ave hardware with the bracket is in order. let us know what you find, least i'll need that info.

Same here. Never checked the threads, but the heads were all definitely metric.

One more quesiton

The three mounting holes in my 4g are much larger than a 10mm bolt more like 14 mm. Is this the way yours are or is this alternator body an oddball.

IIRC the holes are large in the alternator. However the threaded portion of the bracket is 10mm. I will check this morning.

the three bolts holding the alt on are 10x1.5 thread about 3" long or 80mm
