Looking for some injectors, 3.8 cam sensor and a custom collar for the new EFI setup if anyone has any leads.

EFI Guy recommended 39lb Coyote injectors LV34A CMS187 0280158227

What injectors are you running on your Explorer swap?

Going on a 351w based 408.

I would guess the coyote injectors are a split stream, which would be a poor choice? But then again, EFI guy seems to know what he is talking about.

There is a thread on here, where I guy sells the explorer swap parts as a kit.

I know nothing about those injectors, I'm running Siemens Deka 60lb injectors which EFI Guy recommended previously. But if he says use the Coyote variant, I'd defer to him. He's been doing this a long time.

He sells the collars, or he used to.

There are two variants of the 3.8 cam synchronizer. One is 3 wire (Hall effect), the other 2 wire (variable reluctance). You want the former. I don't recall offhand the years for that one, someone else here or Garry will know. While you are at it get yourself an ARP oil pump driveshaft.

For the injectors I’d listen to Gary for sure. He knows more about this stuff than most all of us do. Why not just buy 3.8 cam sync off of like summit or somewhere? It’s what I did but I’m running an oem 5.0 explorer style. I bought mine off of rockauto and the timing alignment tool from somewhere I’ve forgot now. I’m not understanding what the “custom collar”
Is you are also asking about??

He's got a 351W based engine. The diameter of the distributor hole in the 351W block is larger than that on a 5.0/302, and the hex on the oil pump driveshaft is larger, so a 5.0 cam synchronizer won't work. Ford never made a 351W with distributorless ignition thus no off the shelf cam synchronizer. But the 3.8 V6 (Windstar among others) uses the same 5/16" hex as the 351W except with the 5.0/302 OD at the block. The adapter sleeve fits the OD of the 3.8 synchronizer and positions the cam gear at the right height.

Is there a preferable manufacture of 3.8 cam sync? I can order online. Gary didn’t have a collar on hand, if anyone has an extra one please let me know.

Motorcraft for the cam synchronizer. Part number DA-2096. Here's one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/3181991082...d=link&campid=5335857059&toolid=20001&mkevt=1
You will need the cam position sensor. I believe those are obsolete from Motorcraft. I'm using this one, has been ok for the last two years: https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=940453&cc=1304648&pt=7192&jsn=25
Also need the alignment tool: https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=12770213&cc=1304648&pt=1001188&jsn=10704

Sent you a DM about the collar.

@lars would you mind sending me the info about the collar also? I’m interested in building a 351 in the future and I’d like to get my hands on one or two of these

Posted a group buy thread on the collars to see if we can get a discounted rate on 10+

As far as the injectors go, what are others running in their 408s?

Gary mentioned the sim 60s were great but complicated the tables on the computer?... new to EFI. Haven’t ordered injectors yet. Appreciate your efforts on the 3.8 collars. Any help/suggestions appreciated.

Correction to my above post, the Coyote injectors are 34 not 39. Found some Bosch #62408 original equipment coyote injectors on Amazon for $265. May just order these. What is the issue with "dual cone"? IS this what you were referring to "Split Stream"?

Dual cone or split stream injectors are meant for dual overhead cams on a coyote etc.. You want a single narrow cone. Picking injectors is a science.

But I trust EFI guy.

Looks like we are getting close on the collar group buy. Just need one or two more. Got all the parts reccommended by you and Gary. We are thinking I should run the Siemens 60s like you. Where did you order yours? Having trouble finding a reputable company that will ship to CA. I know there are a lot of counterfits going around. He suggested using my 65MM BBK TB for better throttle response. What are your thoughts, think I saw you're running a 75. Have a extrude honed upper and lightning lower I will port match to the AFR 185 heads. We also updated the setup for a ford slot MAF (3L3Z-12B579-BA).

More later but for now, I got my injectors from an outfit in sunny Ventura, CA. Looks like they still stock them: https://www.highflowfuel.com/siemen...tors-ev1-60mm-length-630cc-107961-choose-qty/
75mm throttle body from Accufab. My intake (Trick Flow R) is machined for a 90 but I went smaller for throttle response since I'm obviously not racing.
Likewise Ford slot MAF per Garry's recommendation. 90-something mm I think, don't recall who I got the housing from offhand.
