Thats what im currently using..cept my lowpressure return line fitting is aluminum.

....after searching through pumps online...and more CB forums...I found that the 97 vs 96 explorerer pump part numbers are different 20-274 vs 20-277....So my 96' pump will be in tommorow...will see what happens with the other pump..

Sounds like on hell of a shot in the dark. How many pumps are you willing to try? Is there no one who can try your pump on their rig to eliminate fittings, hoses and box?

I am currently using the lee fitting. Still same problem...swapping out that pump today(its warranty item stuff....so no cost to me) and ive gotten good at swapping powersteering pumps now....gotthe job down to 15 minutes...

So!! Got the new part in hand..and from a quick look over....the 96 is different than the 97...the 96 is configured differently on the hi pressure outlet....will post pics soon.

Even if the pump is configured differently, it should have still worked. As long as you arent blocking ports with the fitting, I cant see why it wouldnt.

I had to bleed the shit out of my first pump ... lock to lock with the engine off to keep it from foaming a dozen or more times to each side, then again with the engine on another dozen times. Worked awesome for a couple years then failed. Replacement pump primed quickly. I think it really comes down to how much air is in the lines and if you prime with the engine on, you are turning those big air bubbles into zillions of tiny air bubbles that you wont have a lot of luck burping.

This setup works.

Installed 96 year pump and Fixed!! Assist at idle......primed super fast.....and bleed didnt take long.....one of these days ill try those other fittings just to see....but for right now....goin for a drive....

I had the same problem as the OP, got the '96 version pump and the Lee fitting. Problem solved. CB to the rescue again!
