F250 single shock or dual hoop shocks?

I recently bought a set of F250 shock towers and shock on here and I'm now thinking of going duals. Is it worth selling what I just bought and buy the dual hoop set up?

Can the F250 shock brackets be mounted on either side of the coil spring? If so I guess that could be another option, just buy another set of F250 shock towers and shocks.

I kind of like the look of the dual hoop set up.

I bought a hoop from a guy off Ebay well made and about 100 dollars cheaper or so.. I would do hoops. Ive run both and the 250 tower is good but it's very limited in shock location and overall performance

I was considering the F-250 shock mount as well...

treilhesse - What sort of limitations are there to shock location and performance?

Length of shock, mounting locations are limited due to only being able to run the shock straight down from the tower, the hoops have up to three mounting locations which can go up and down the radius arm and since you ate using a bolt through the tube 90degrees to the frame the shock can move more through the arc cycles in thr front axle. when the front axle move up and down it moves in a arc and the f250 towers are less forgiving than hoops in that arc.. the f250 can go up pretty high on the frane but they tend to get weak the higher you go . And trying to gusset that on the inside of the frame is hard also welding in the frame in these locations is hard due to all the contaminate in the metal from oil and fluids over the years I go 36 grit 50 grit then spray it down with braje cleaner and clean the metal really good.

It also depends,on what your going to do. A around town daily driver the 250 towers are great you get alot of shock options because its eye eye instead of stud eye.. Any trail use I would hoop it. when I put on hoops,I was amazed at the amount of bind the stock and f250 had in them..

Be careful using brake cleaner on anything you're going to weld. I use acetone. Some risk of igniting the fumes, so working in a well ventilated area becomes more important.

Let it dry well before welding brake cleaner dries without residue or oil very fast thought thay was common sense fyi Justin acetone is flammable too;-)

Ok thats a little scary I guess im going to use acetone or something else
that stuff dries so fast though he must have welded on it seconds after spraying the metal

Thanks. I was kind of thinking along the same lines, just wasn't sure how much of drawback they were.

It will be mostly a daily driver but you never know what the future holds.

There is something in brake cleaner or use to be that was very harmful and even deadly if the smoke from welding was inhaled. There was a post about on this site some time back.

I guess I will see if I can get my $100 back out of the F250 brackets and shocks I bought which are brand new.

I have front hoops on my truck...i do enjoy the look as well. But now that inhave full widths and 5.5 lift i have found they my hinder a few thing i would not mind doing.. front sway bars from WH but the hoop get in the way as well as JD upper coil buckets to better align the coil springs... so sometimes simple function is a good way to go.

Bottom line is the F-250 towers are really cheap.
They do work.
I have remarkably better articulation than stock.
They will likely never perform as good as the hoops but you get what you pay for and the F-250 towers met a price/value point that worked well for me.
