I checked my 1970 bronco caramel bronze metallic all original paint and it is kind of a brown/tan/red color on the underside. Not the red oxide color my 67 is. Much more dull.

This photo is of my 70 caramel bronze. That has been repainted green.

I have a Candy Apple Red, Sport, Sept. 68, 1969 model with red oxide. Apparently, it wasn’t even a when it was built thing, down to the month!?!?

My Norway Green '69 with yellow underneath was built in July '69, late in the model year. So, many months later.

2 Sept. 68’s with different colors, means to me that there’s not much correlation between when it was made and what they used.

oxide primer. I know this thread is a few months old but, here is the bottom of my 75 bronco which looks more like brown oxide primer. Real close to this coffee can.

Here is mine in raptor liner tinted to match the original red/brn oxide primer. Pictures do not do the colors justice. They make it lighter than it really is.
