FB marketplace vs. Craigslist

To prep for an upcoming move I placed some items on FB marketplace. Wow, people can really be a PITA. I think it is worse than doing a yard sale! People want to negotiate on already cheap stuff, and then want you to deliver, or meet them somewhere convenient for them. Best one is someone showing with car to pick up full size dining room table. They know you will “help” them deliver because they have already made a deal…I miss Craigslist!

I had a dude tell me he was stopping by one afternoon. That evening I looked at my FB page and there was a nasty message from him. Apparently he sat outside my home for two hours and never text or heaven forbid, knocked on the door, to get the item. Thankfully he said he would never talk to me again. Ugh!😩

I wont do Facebook market place. Too much BS. I have sold my last two boats on Craigslist and bought a bunch of Broncos over the years off of Craigslist no issues. You do get some spam and bots but they are pretty easy to weed out. I find the people buying and selling are more serious than FB.

Out in the county here, if you’re just looking to get rid of something that still has some value but you just really hate dealing with rude people, just put it at the end of your driveway. It’s usually gone by morning, or a couple of days at the latest.

Lots of nuts on both. I had one guy who wanted to trade me horse for a vehicle. Another guy who wanted to trade me some old Dodge van for a Ford F100 - I told him no. A buyer showed up, bought the Ford, and as he was driving off in it the first guy pulls up in Dodge van and was all pissed because I didn't want his van.

Do that here and it will multiply, everyone figures if something is left there, they can dump their crap there too. It is evidentially too far to the free county dump site, 7 miles away. I'm on a first name basis with them, constantly picking up crap dumped by others and carrying it over there. IT IS FREE to go there

Bottom feeders. I post some stuff there and ignore the chaff. I look at the profiles of people who want to “deal”, which is helpful in sorting out who is who. Lots of scams going on over there.

I gave up on Craigslist. I just donate stuff to Goodwill or give it to somebody who can use it. Just not worth the hassle to sell stuff anymore unless it is worth a lot, and if it is I just keep it.
My crazy county charges you to get into the landfill. Then they scratch their heads trying to figure out why there are old TV’s and microwaves filling up the ditches.

So far, nobody has “added” to my pile. Since our “free” landfill is 18 miles away, I just let the scroungers get it. 😃

Put it at the end of the drive with a sign that says $50, it will be gone by morning.

Genius idea, wish I’d thought about doing that!! That’ll work. I’m gonna put my Kawasaki jet ski out there next and save me having to haul it off.
