Filling up w/gas

When putting gas in the truck, I have to pump it as slowly as possible otherwise the pump shuts off. Does anyone have a solution for this? It takes forever to get gas...and I usually end up w/gas on the side of the truck. Any help is appreciated.

Check the vent tube on the filler neck. I've had two vehicles do this and both had a bug's nest blocking the vent. It's fairly simple to remove the filler neck. Use a piece of wire to poke thru the tube then flush it out with fluid. Probably a dirt dauber.

We don't see that as much these days as we did in the '70's and '80's, but that's probably because by now many of our trucks have had the old rubber hoses replaced at least once.

I blew air through the vents and tubes, could not detect any kinks or obvious restrictions, but replacing the hoses with new ones completely eliminated the issue for me. Never came back either.

The old debris/dirt dauber theory is very likely, as I never actually opened my old filler hose up to see, but the new one fixed it.
I had already replaced my fill-vent hose prior to that with zero change in the tank's bad attitude at the pump.

Never had the problem with any of my aftermarket tanks either, but they were all accompanied by new hoses as well.
Only time I saw anything like that was on a NWMP tank when the guy installing it looped and kinked a too-long fill-vent hose instead of just cutting it to the correct length.
After cutting and straightening it, the issue went away.

Mine is all new, new vent line, new filler hose. 23 gallon Sherman tank. Some gas stations I have to fiddle around with how I am fitting the filler nozzle into my tank or it keeps flipping off. I am sure all my venting is open. But I never cannot find a position where gas flows good. But I do have to find the sweet spot at times. Some stations I barely have the nozzle in, others I just turn it in the direction I know the filler tube runs down the side of the truck.

Jafo is is right. It's the angle of the dangle that matters! Either angle it a bit different or rotate it slightly.

I have to rotate the nozzle (in opposite directions) on both of my tanks to actually get gas to flow. If I try to lock the lever and leave it always shuts off instantly.

It's always done this, even after new hoses were installed.

Pump it with the nozzle upside down. this sucks because you have to hold it.
