fixing leaky wheel seal

I just got in my 72 and the right side wheel seal is leaking. I pulled it and it has the tapered roller bearings with the integrated seal 31 spine axels. Part # U365L
The race will spin freely in the housing. Also one bolt was missing and another was stripped and not tight. I did a search and see that some recommended putting RVT silicone where the housing and race go together to stop the leak. I have also had some people tell me to take a punch and put a few small dings inside the race to tighten it up and keep it from spinning. of course I am putting on a new bearing with seal since I have it pulled even though the one on there is suppose to be new. Any other recommendations?

never heard of a integrated seal bearing. all the 31 spline axles ive put in have a seal that press' on the axle on the outside of the bearing vs. stock that has the seal inside the tube.

:p :p :p If you have the 2 pc. wheel bearing and the race is lose then you need to dimple the houseing all the way around and use a good lock-tight (red) and then put it all back and you should be good to go. You dont want the race to turn it the houseing good luck.:D :D :D Bill %) ;D

rednck21 I think these are the newer style that they started to use in the late 70s on the F150 and big broncos.

wildbill So use a punch and dimple the houseing from the outside, that makes more sense then puting dimples in the race. Then put the locktight on the outside of the race to seal it up good and help hold it in place.
