fold down windshield question

Outside of maybe bow hunting season i am not sure I would ever fold the windshield down on my 68. But the PO put a hood bubble on the hood and took out the steel loop the windshield used to cleat into when folded down. is there a way to still fold it down now that the bubble precludes the original factory method? Sorry if the question has been asked and answered before, I could not find it in a search.

Not sure what a "hood bubble" is. You mean a hood scoop? You can always fold down the windshield by just taking the top off and undoing the 2 bolts in the dash. Your issue will be latching it to the hood. Only the 66-68's had factory latches although all early broncos could fold down their windshield. You can buy a kit to latch it down from most of the Bronco houses.

Yeah, bubble or scoop. Same or similar things, just different wording sometimes.
A real bubble won't have any scoopage in other words, but many "scoops" don't anyway.

But whether you can do it cleanly or not will depend on the design, and what you are able to do to compensate for the height buster.

If you fold the windshield down, it's going to come to rest on the bubble, so it had either be very strong, or you will need to create some stand-offs on either side of the bubble/scoop to support the windshield frame so it stays just above it. Then you'll have to figure out how to keep it down.
Bouncing around would not be good for it, and if you had to drive fast while it was laying down and not latched, I would not necessarily want to be the one sitting in the front seat!

Got pics of your hood area?

Paul

It is a fiberglass old school hood scoop, that was fiberglassed to the steel hood. Kind of looks like the WH image attached. A hole was cut in the original hood to allow for the taller 351w and to allow for a real air cleaner. i can get a better picture when i get home. The PO gave me the old section of steel hood not that it will help me now. I have the loop and the latch for the windshield but there is no way the hood will support the weight now, it would have to be some standoff that maybe lets it ride on the fenders? or something else?
