For a Bronco that's been sitting...

Due to two years of uncommon busyness I'm ready to get the bronco back out there. What should I do to get it road ready again?

I've replaced the battery in the last year but the breaks are super squeelie. I've not replaced the break pads in years so I'm thinking I'll get those replaced. Should I get a coolant flush as well? Anything else that should be done?

The squealy brakes are probably from a thin layer of rust that will pass, may require cleaning, that you can handle, but wouldn’t expect to need to change anything. Other than that normal fluid changes should be good to go. I know your coolant isn’t that old in terms of coolant, so I wouldn’t worry about that for another couple of years.

If the brakes are squishy keep an eye out for fluid leaks in case the seals hardened on the calipers or wheel cylinders.

I took it out a while back and ran the gas through and put a fresh batchi n. . Someone told me to put that red line fuel system cleaner in the gas tank. Not sure if that's necessary yet?

It's Texas so it's seen 100+ days and ice here recently. I just noticed my tires look low so I'll add that to the list.

Ok so I've taken it out for a couple of drives to recharge up the battery and the breaks squealed for a good two hours. It stopped for a few minutes then started right back up again with the metal on metal noise.

check your fuel lines all the way from the tank to the carb. you dont want to rescue a bronco just to burn it down. modern gas likes to kill old fuel lines and plug fuel filters and the carb. don't chance it. Did you ever fix what stopped you from driving the rig?

Ha! That would be life in general with two kids and two jobs (and all the school upheaval from covid).

My Dad got his old Nova in a car show in about a month and signed me up as well. That gave me the kick in the butt to clean her up and get her back on the road.
