What are the wires for the O2 ? I need to check them . Having a bad run issue. Seems like it’s running rich , pops, back fires. If I put my foot into it it clears runs strong. When I back off it misses again.
I suspect the O2 sensor not reading. They are new Boush . I have one connector that got too close to exhaust and burnt it a bit.
So I want to check it and make sure it’s reading correctly

3-wire or 4-wire connector?
3 wires, the two that are the same color are for the heating element (no polarity for the heater) and the third wire is signal with ground being the exhaust
4 wire is the same except the ground is now a wire instead of the exhaust.

Do you have any exhaust leaks? Even tiny little ones. That will leak air into the exhaust and that is a bigger issue than exhaust leaking out. The air in shows up as lean, so the computer adds fuel. The air leaking in also mixes with the rich exhaust and causes backfires.

Are you showing any codes? I would just unplug them and see how it runs. It almost sounds like bad gas or stuck open injector more than O2 to me.

How long has this been running. When I did my harness. Somehow I reversed the o2 sensers. It Idled perfect but popped when running and getting on it. Reversed them and bam. Ran perfect.

Thanks .y’all … well I think I found the issue. It was throwing and MAF circuit code. I checked the plug, it was a plug for a Lighting MAF . I must have had a bad connection on one of my splices. I redid the connections and it is running good and not throwing any more codes
Thanks again guys

I been chasing that problem for awhile. I was almost ready to take all the Ford EFI out . It has not missed a beat in 2 days , runs perfect and throwing no codes.
Thanks again guys
Now on to the Hyroboost

I had to chase a gremlin for a month. Intermittent Miss. got into reading fuel trims. Chasing vacuum leaks. Changed injectors on passenger side. Long story short. It was the #1 injector plug making intermittent loose connection causing the miss. The river seal on the plug expanded. It felt like it clicked in, but would pop out a little. Ugh. Runs great now. Man I love obd2 connectivity.
