So I have been wanting to swap out the e303 cam that came in the ford racing 306 crate motor that I put in my bronco but I'm having trouble figuring out what cam to put in its place. I want a cam that is more suitable for a bronco and makes its power low in rpms. I would like to get a cam that will just slide in place of the e303 if that is possible without having to change anything else. I am going to pull the motor to do the swap and then I can fix the leaky rear main seal while I'm at it. Thanks in advance for the help

All the major cam manufacturs have a help line with technicians that can answer these questions Lots of variables are considered in your decision

Another option is to get one custom ground for your application.

I do that with all my builds now and the cost isn't that much more.

>>> see post 11 ... http://classicbroncos.com/forums/showthread.php?t=221969&highlight=anderson+tappet+tool , swaped the cam without removing the intake manifold & I used so called the small F4TE/ '96-'01explorer/'94-'96 truck 5.0/ '94-'97 351W cam .... maybe better heads extend the rev range of that cam 'cause it still pulling hard in the 5,000 rpm range.......the X heads do have larger runner than my older aluminum Y heads which may change things a little....

I didn't even know that was an option. What company do you use or recommend?

There in the northwest and he is a real Ford guy. His name is Scott and he will go through a long list of engine mods, converter stall, gearing, tire height
etc...

He'll also hook you up with valvesprings, tappets and all the related stuff.

The trouble with off the shelf cams is they have fit a large variety of combos. Everything from Foxbodys to Broncos to 4300 lbs. Rancheros, so its pretty tough getting the right cam for YOUR combo.

all major cam companies can grind a custom cam for you. not much more than an off the shelf. there are also companies that do nothing but custom grinds. I think you get a little better service from them. either way you get one selected by the experts. have all your info on what you have and what you want to do.
