Fosgate speakers.....anyone?

I'm about to buy a pait of speakers for my '67 and I'm torn between Crawltunes' 6" fosgate setup & fosgate's own 8" setup. They'll be powered by 100 watts per speaker (Alpine 4x100 amp).

I'm not looking for "boom", but I definitely want to be able to hear SOME bass when running down the freeway with the top off. Are the 6" speakers from Crawltunes going to be plenty sufficient, or should I pony up & go for the 8" fosgates? I'm leaning towards the 8" speakers, but Crawltunes is here local, so that makes me want to do business with them.

Who has either of these speakers & what is your firsthand opinion? Thanks in advance!

Well from my user name I would go with the fosgates haha :). They have good quality speakers. This is a combo speaker but the bass should still come through good. That price is reasonable but it is still a chunk of change.

RF is still top notch. They will always be near the top of the pack for bass production. Always have always will.
This is from a severe bass head from the 80's. I know of what I speak.
I don't think 6" hit at all and 8" speakers barely hit.
I would think in an eb with no top you'll need to hide a 12" sub somewhere to get any real bass with the top off.
And no I am not talking about boomy bass. Just appropriate bass response in an open top vehicle.

I'm afraid you're probably dead on. I'm an old bass-head from the 90's, too. Back in the day I had Lanzar 12's & then Punch 10's (one Punch 45 to each sub). I'll probably just go with the crawltunes & add a sub if I need more "punch". :)

You might want a bigger sub than this, but I put a 6" Bazooka in my center console and it makes a BIG contribution to the sound. Console is pictured inverted in a workmate table vise, totally gutted to make room for my boom.

Smart.
Bazooka tubes are neat. They make little drivers FRAM at specific frequencies but add nice overall bass response to an appropriately designed sound system.

Yaw are bringing back memories... Yep. I was into stereo DB drag racing and SPL comps. in the late 90s and few years in early 2000. I ran 6 RF 15" subs in a 1989 Bronco II, yes I that number is correct. What could be better, a huge stereo and a Bronco!!!

I had a Rockford Fosgate stock system in a Nissan Frontier SC and it pretty much beat my dad's alpine system in his Porsche.

I too use a 6 inch bazooka that has the amp built in it. For me with my top off my 2 6" speakers on my rear wheel wells and the bazooka on the floor behind me allow me to hear my tunes loud and clear. I am also running an amp to push the speakers as well.

This rigs running a set of cans with a Bazooka tube in the back and he was real happy with it.
Wasn't RFs though.

Same boat. Can't beat RF.
Looking for a setup for my 69. Let me know what you decide on and how it sounds.
