well, i nabbed the 78 Conti setup---every hose, the booster, the MC (which looks brand new), the Saginaw dual return pump (complete with all associated brackets), the distribution block and the wide lincoln pedal!

all items appear to be in very good condition, and all fluids that leaked from the systems appeared to be clean and new.

after holding up the wide pedal to my spare 73 pedal bracket, the modification to move the unit to the left of the steering column looks like it is going to be a breeze...

Im ordering a complete Glass body in the next few days, my questions for the hydro brakes are

Which one will be easiest to install on the undrilled new tub?

Can the hydro system simply be flipped and master cylinder installed upright? rather than readjusting rear firewall plate?

I am assuming one with a flat rear plate would be best in my project?

302, automatic, 2" body lift If that helps? Just wanna do it right and all new parts is what I like to do, I wont say money is no object but after several thousands in it Ill do the parts house way before the junkyard.

If you have the 'glass body with no holes drilled as a blank "slate", any of the units with a flat plate would be a good candidate. The Lincolns mount flat (don't really use a mounting plate like the newer units do). The Super Duty uses a flat plate and some Astros do as well. Depending on where you mount it, and I'm assuming you're running a carb'd engine based on your comments above, you don't HAVE to flip the unit. If you do decide to flip it, you shouldn't have to mess with the plate.

THE simple on to install is still the mid 70's GM diesel pickup model a bolt in
The flat base is on the earlier hydroboost units straight bolt ups.
You can make a mounting plate out of heavy steel plate. not fun, but I have done it.
Distribution block?? for the master cylinder you mean?? I use the stock Bronco master cylinder on all the conversions I have done. The all disc one I like ToddZ's Dodge master cylinder he uses. As to a proportioning valve never had to use one so can't answer that one - - - how about it Todd?? you had to use one?
Sahara is the upper end model of the GMC/Astro van. Same hboost unit as any of the mini van units.
Me, i am prejudiced, I love the one ton diesel type units with there pumps. lots of whoa power in those puppies. Pumps are awesome the output is just about enough to pop the seals on the steering box. (hasen't happened YET)

I have only used the adjustable ones like the ones offered by Wilwood, Summit, etc.

I had acquire a hydro from a Mark VII that is an electric driven unit. Do not have to run the hydro off of the power steering pump.
Can you post some picture of this?

Or anyone else of this type?

Grab the 78 Power steering pump, having a larger reserve is a GOOD think.
One on the right is a Lincoln hydroboost pump.

Has anyone tried the H-boost out of a later model(01+) Chevy 2500HD? I haven't heard this one mentioned,,,,is there a reason for that?

So, no modifications to the box itself? Just the pump, lines and booster? I have 4 wheel manual discs. Stops pretty good, but hydro seems to be the way to go once the 35's are on.

No mods to the box required.

They're good boosters. If you have access to one, I'd use it. I've pulled a few from the pull-a-parts around here. I just don't run across them very often.

I've never seen a current gen(2001+) Chevy truck in a Pick A Part. That's why this one caught my eye. What is the street value of a used H boost of unknown condition? Some yards around here are reasonable, some are ridiculous. Seeing as how I've never explored H-boost I have no frame of reference. I've currently got the BC vacuum assist, but I'm sure some day I'll swap to H-boost.

There's only one yard locally where I can get the later model GM stuff along with the SD h-boosters. Here in Phoenix at the Pull-A-Parts, it seems like you can get the older Lincoln/GM stuff and the Astro boosters for $30-$40. Probably cheaper if you shop around. There are others who get them for $10-$20 in other areas of the country. TOFIC apparently gets his for free :) .

For the late model truck stuff, I pay $50 for the SD and late model GM boosters and that's only because I'm a frequent customer at the yard. If I was just Joey off the street, I'd pay a lot more for them, I'm certain. Again, I'm sure there are a lot better deals to be had in other parts of the country, but that's the status of things here in Phoenix, where today it was perfect junkin' weather. Helped pull some stuff this morning and was in shirt sleeves before lunch!
