Anyone know if any of the vendors sell stock front license plate brackets? I have a pretty bone stock '68 that I would like to get one for. If not made new, what do you think a used one would sell for? I have had five EBs in the last ten years, and not a single one of them had the front bracket. I think most of them were thrown away a long time ago.

No need for a bracket... just zip tie it to the grill.. The holes are there...

Nylon zip ties are cheaper than those plastic nut inserts....

Mine has a bracket on the factory bumper. You could make one out of a piece of 1" angle iron, bolt to the bottom of the bumper, and the plate bolts to it. If I get home before dark tommorrow I will post a pic.

Hence the reason for this thread. I have been talking to Jeepster about buying one for my '68 stocker. I thought the ones he was selling were used to mount to the grille. I never knew there was a bracket to mount them to the bumper.

So, where do you get the plastic inserts for the grill mounting?

Just go to the auto store in the help section. If your not required to run a front plate dont bother. The bracket is just another option for those who dont want to block the grill.

Here's a picture of my 75 that has the bracket in the center of the bumper.

I might have one on an old bumper laying around in the pile-o-junk in the back of the shop. I'll look tonight when I get home.

they didnt have brackets. holes in bottom left side of grill. had plastic nut insert thingys to run a bolt into.

Here is what I do. It will cost you $1.00.
You need 2 # 14 flat head sheet metal screws & 2 #14 U-nut or speed nuts.
The slot is already at the bottom of the grill, just slip them in.
You may want to you a vynal washer as a stand-off between the plate and the grill

I filled my holes on the grille because my stock bumper had the bracket. I just like the look better with out the plate on the side, or the holes.. IMO. Either is fine..
