fuel gurgles and then splashes back out

Bronco been sitting few years and I'm getting ready to start the engine today. When I put fuel in the tanks (both of them) with a fuel can, The flow down the tube "gurgles" and then fuel splashes back out. Is there a vent tube involved that might be clogged? I'll be blasting the fuel lines with air before my attempt. Maybe soon I'll drop the tanks. Mostly I want to start the engine to be sure I have a viable power-plant (and for a moral booster). I'm gonna proceed but was hoping to get some insight.....thanks
