Fuel Tank Evap Line

I went into the garage this morning and got an odor of gas and then noticed there was gas leaking from under my tank. When I followed the line, it was the evaporator line with looks to be a plastic fuel type filter with connections on each end. I have researched all of the old threads on this and wanted to know what is the best option. Should I go old school and rig up an old emission type system or is there another option? My temp fix is adding more tubing and letting gravity help.
Any suggestions would be great!
