My 70 has a vented cap that fits poorly so I went to Kragen and picked up a new one . The new one is unvented but fits right , are they suppose to vented or will it matter ??

Second question about the aux cap , did they have two different size caps cause the new one wont fit the aux tank filler but the old one kind of does ??? the new cap wont even fit in the aux tank filler slots

Thanks

If your stock one was vented you could be looking for a breakdown as there needs to some sort of vent or way to relieve the suction pressure, find a better place to sell you a vented cap, but to me it sounds like you got the wrong cap and/or the filler tubes are different (NOT STOCK).
I had mine stop pushing fuel to the carb, I took the caps off and it ran again, I bought new caps and away I went. I do not know about the 70, but My 68 had vented caps. I got 2 new ones from NAPA

My 70 has unvented caps (identical caps for both tanks). Venting is provided by the small lines that run from the tanks to a cannister behind the side panel in back of the drivers seat (part of the vapor recovery system). If your vapor recovery system works, use unvented caps - they shouldn't be too hard to find. If your vapor recovery lines are plugged, you need vented caps. I tried to find some venteds awhile ago and never found any that fit 70's - apparently there are some early smog years that had different caps. Alternately, you could run your tank lines to some other venting device (filter) and use unvented caps. Good luck.

My 70 only came with the main tank but the cap was unvented. I later lost the cap and bought a lockable one at Pep Boys (non vented) and it works great.

My 70 has two unvented gas caps (original part) that fit interchangably with either tank.

Stant makes two replacement caps for the Bronco. Vented and Unvented. They are not interchangeable. The unvented newer model 11702 has deep locking wings for the newer filler necks, designed for vehicles incorporating the overflow bottle behind the driver along with the charcoal canister. The older vented cap (# ?) looks the exact same, but has shallow locking wings and will not fit the newer necks. You can see the difference side by side. All pep boys stock both Stant models.
