I would like to improve mine as well. I get 7-8MPG on the hwy! 351C with holley 750 double pumper, big cam, 33" all terain tires and 4 speed top loader manual trans. Think I need to come down 1 jet size (runs a little rich) but still seems to be too low for 65MPH hwy driving.

ideas?

Thanks,
Kirk

Get rid of the Holley, and put a Quadrajet on there. You will lose some HP, but it will handle the trails a lot better and you will get better MPG.

What gear ratio? If you have 3.50s that's is a bit high for 33" tires and the motor will have to work too hard and hurt your mileage. You'll get your best efficiency when the motor is cruising closer to your maximum torque RPM. Also I've found that 50-55 gets me way better milage. I get 10 MPG pulling my 15' camp trailer at 55 MPH. I kmow you can do better than 9.

Not sure on my gear ratio. It is stock. My tires a New 33 x 12.5 BFG Mud TA on new steel rims. I am running 35 lbs in the tires. No weight in the truck besides, full size spare, winch, protofab bumbers, tools, wife and dog. I am not sure on the timing, the truck does idle and shift fine. I might try some new plugs and a tune-up. I guess that might help just to make sure all is set-up right.;D
