Years ago when mine was a daily driver and I had an 80 mile roundtrip I was getting 18 on average. That was with a freshly rebuilt 302,stock 2bbl.,mild cam,K&N air filter, dual flowmasters,Jacobs Milage Master ignition, riding on 32x11's with 3.50 gears and a stock 3 speed....and with no hard top.I now have a hardtop and I know that it has cut into my mpg.
With the hardtop installed it should reduce wind drag and therefore increase mileage unless the tailgate was also either removed or open.

I run the original 170 with electronic ignition and tuned well gets 18-24 and has great power as a daily driver. Planning a set of headers to see if that will improve both power and mileage.

....true but the reduction in weight makes it a wash.I was running a soft top at the time but when I ran with it down I didn't detect a measurable differance it mpg.

I suppose a tonneau cover would be the best solution.
