I can only imagine if I had to pay someone to do everyhing I have done
As i am typing this I keep remembering things I have bought and done, holly crap
In my case
My 77 cost between 9 to10 grand, it was a good rust free truck, that needed trans and engine work at some point, but both lasted me 2 years
First thing I did when I got it home was replace the brakes, tie rods, drag link, ball joints, tires to make it safe. There was a good 1500 bucks right there. I prob could have just done the tires, but wanted to be extra safe, as the brakes turned out to be in pretty good condition.
New coil springs and leaf springs $600-700
23 gallon main tank/skid plate $500
Toms Alluminum radiator $500
Toms saganaw pump $200
Steering wheel few hundred
headers $500
exhaust $3-400
Then I searched and found a Ford Racing 5 liter, with under 3000 miles, $1800
Then add to that a new flywheel, harmonic dampner, new MSD distributor, 6AL ignition, and a 670 truck avenger, so another 1000 bucks.
The following year NV3550, adaptors, new clutch, another 2 grand
Twin Stick $200
Shock hoops few hundred
Front winch bumper, and winch $1000-1500
Redid the dash with new guages $500-600
Recovered the front seats, with new foam, $500
Stereo system $300-500
Then little things here and there, weather stripping, door felts, H4 headlights, with relay harness, Carpeting, fender flares, hood and liftgate shocks and bunch of other little things say another $1000-1500 These little things sure do add up
So even doing all the work myself, I have well over $13,000 invested in parts, and if I had to pay full price on a new motor it could have been another $2-3000
This winter I am going to add fuel injection, and a new roll cage, so figure a good $1-2000
Someday mine will need paint which I am sure will cost a good $2000 maybee even more. I don't want to thing about that.
I did all the work myself, so right now I have well over $20,000 into my truck. If I had to pay for all the work I did, I bet you could add $5000 to what I have into it. So I can see a easy 30 grand to pay someone to build you a bronco, and that doesn't include paint or body work.
