Good question. I have been pondering this as well. I was thinking the als liner for the underside of the body and engine bay.

But, near the headers? Any issues there?

I went with the same coating that is used in aluminum boats (looks gray with white splatter), my painter had recommended it. Its holding up real good (13+ years later).
I found that this or a smilar product really makes the engine bay look uniform and adding accessories or engine related stuff is a snap since the coating is not that thick to drill through.

I"ll find out this weekend, hopefully, if the header heat bothers it. It's Raptorliner and I don't think it will be a problem. I wouldn't use Herculiner or anything rubbery.

jedblake, got any pics?

Explorer, that's a nice looking engine bay you have.

I've thought about something similar on the underside of the inner fender wells and what not when it comes time, but was concerned about heat as well. Looks like that won't be a problem if you guys are coating the engine bay itself.

Thanks for the compliment. Went and looked up the data sheets on it and all it say's is protects metal from extreme temps, for what thats worth. I'd wait till someone else chimes in or I see what happens.

I have put both 'Raptor' and 'Shake and shoot' brand bedliner material in engine bays on a few rigs and havent seen a problem yet. Just make sure that your prep work is done and that stuff sticks to almost anything. I like the 'Shake and shoot' stuff better just for the simple fact that it looks a bit more like Linex if applied right. Actual "linex" liners are applied hot, and all the knock offs have the same chemical make-up as Linex and Rhino so in my mind heat shouldnt be an issue, at least I have not seen it to be in an engine bay. good luck.
