Great to hear it running no matter what the additional sounds it's throwing out. Within reason of course!

As for the ticking, it may just need to be driven. Lifters get gummy and stick. Sitting just makes it more of a sure thing. A can of oil additive and a few miles may be all you need.
Mine needed a few cans, over two or three oil changes before they got quiet, but silent they did become. And as a bonus my oil consumption went from a quart about every 500 miles, to less than a quart every 5000 miles.
Nice bonus, and I didn't have to do a valve job and lifter change for almost another 40,000 miles.

It may not work in your case, but I always say a few bucks spent now for the next few months, is way better than a whole bunch-o-dollars spent now on something that a little snake oil can fix.

Paul - Worth trying. Thanks for sharing your experience.

For old sticky lifters, at oil change time the oil is usually 1/2 quart low or so so, we would dump in a full quart of atf and drive it a couple hundred miles. Then change the oil. Atf has excellent detergents in it. In these old style motors don't use a multi-viscosity oil with less than 20- 30
