Pistoles in S. Austin (off Slaughter & Old Manchaca Rd). They rebuilt my 3 speed.

Or, you might call Jeep Masters & see who they recommend.

Isn't BC Broncos fairly close to Austin? Or maybe if you are using a particular parts mfr's line you might ask them who does alot of rebuilds with their parts in Austin.

I guess I should have mentioned it's the factory 3 speed. And the factory D20 J shift. As far as I know the transmission is in good shape. The front output bearings in the transfer case are fubared.

Looks like Pistoles is the place to go. He was even referred to me by a couple of other transmission shops I called. His quote was $415 total. $230 to install the bearing and seal kit and $185 to go through the transmission. More $$$ if the transmission needs parts.

On a side note: The trucks has floor shift conversion. I think it's a Duff? I know I'm going to have fun trying to put it back together right. I had lots of "help" removing the transmission. If anyone has a picture of all the brackets installed I would greatly appreciate it...

Thanks again for the info.

***YOINK***

I'm happy to report that project bronco resurrection is back underway...

We took the tranny and transfer case to Pistoles today. Lets just say the shop wasn't quite what I expected, but came highly recommended.

Wish me luck!

Yeah, and it's the rainy season, so EVERYTHING'S wet. It's a hole in the wall, but they're really nice. Dog looks like it will eat you, but it won't.

I had a power steering box that I COULDN'T get a piece of the old ball joint out of the end of the pitman arm (and neither could the seller, 'cause he just cut it off w/ a sawzall & gave it to me w/ the nub).

I took it to them, b/c they're the closest people to me w/ presses that I know. They're only 5 minutes from me.

Press didn't work, so they heated it up w/a torch, cut part of it off, drove the rest out after it was glowing. They spent 20 minutes helping me with it.

What was their price? Nothing at all. I gave them a spare 3spd trans I had in way of thanks.

The price to install the bearing and seal kit in the transfer case and go through the transmission to make sure it's fit to go back in the truck was $415 + parts if the transmission needs anything.

Wasn't afraid of the dog, it was interested in the cat on my shoes more than anything.
