Turns out I have been passing up a few good 28 spline 435's. Today while looking for a 435 shifter I took notice of the rectangular bolt pattern on one of my 435's. It has a dana 21 extension housing on it and I have always assumed it was a 31 spline output. I was wrong. I took the end out of it just because I was curious. Its 28 spline and the correct tail shaft for a 435 / 20 swap over. Just putting this out there in case someone stumbles across one at least they will know what they have found. I've had this trans for years and never knew it was 28 spline.
Pictures will help.

What about the length? That adapter looks quite a bit longer than an EB one. Is the added length in the Dana 21 stub shaft?

Yes the length is correct. The 21 stub shaft is deep. The seat for the nut requires a deep socket to reach it. I took a measurement, They are the same . I had no idea the 21 / 435 would work. Makes sense however when you think about it. The 21 was around when the 28 spline 435 were being used.

Bax, what's the Dana 21 out of, never heard of that one? Of course I've lead a sheltered life.

Hello Steve. Dana 21 is a gear to gear single speed transfer case that ford used on trucks in the 60's and early 70's.

I used a 435 that had a d21 on it for my swap back in 1986 fit perfect with the AA adapter.
