Hello All,
I have a 1966, 289, 3 on the floor. When I drive start driving at almost any gear and speed, I can hear a grinding noise coming from the tranny or transfer gear. The grinding gets even louder when I down shift. Any info will help. Thanks!

Besides just checking levels and just filling it up ( which Nick is correct as the first thing to check ), I would drain the fluids out of each, whether full or not, and check for metal shavings.....

I had a grinding issue and it turn out to be the cross member the TC sits on was not bolted down tightly.
