He says "I love this heep, even though my name is Ford!" Come on Ford, you need to come out with an awesome Bronco ad! Maybe a history lesson showing how heep started as a Ford, then showing some of our stock and modded EB's and then all the way to the newest versions!!!

I owned 2 of the best Ford's EVER!

1942 Ford MB in HS, it was my first "car" & my '68 Bronco bought in '76

My girlfriends house is in the background... she had the MG & I had my MB...best of both worlds! :)

(she's been riding around in my Bronco since we bought it).

Slightly different slant, but I started watching the halftime show at least to see what he was like. I don’t follow rap. (Grew up on old rock and roll, particularly stuff like Kansas, Genesis, Journey, ELP)
Anyway, when I saw the car I think my mouth dropped open as I recognized the body immediately as there’s one in the garage in the form of a 87 TurboT. Found he owns that GNX now and was driven home in it after he was born and his last album is called GNX. 500 made!

We had 35 people at our house for the Super Bowl this year (my wife likes to entertain) and when the half time show started and I saw that car and I yelled - he's standing on an 87 GNX!! Everyone turned me and said, "of course you notice the car, Todd!" Got some comments on the Jeep commercial too.

Most rap artists cup the mic. That does all kinds of bad things with a mic regarding the quality. I think it’s just part of the rap sound but didn’t do any of that style at county fairs and such here in middle America.

I was just thinking about the ads and I think my all time favorite was a “cat herding“ ad.. Might of been a financial company?

Aw shucks, here it is.

It‘s interesting that a lot of people don’t realize that a GNX would smoke a Corvette back then. The GN’s and Turbo T’s were heads up with the Corvette and the GNX had 55 more HP. I think they thought it was a dressed up Regal.

They probably didn't know what it was!!
I've only driven one GN (edit: '87 and yes, all black) and I was impressed as I really knew nothing about them before then. This was in the mid '90's. Yeah, older than dirt!

Test drove a GN on a rainy day. Yowza!
They were really trying to sell it and and I just wanted to drive one. Figured I didn’t have the money, even when they got it down to about $18,000 if I remember. Maybe it was 14.
But in the showroom was a GNX for 60,000!

Loved my supercharged 2004. Was probably a better car all around, but the 87 body style still is one of the most distinctive looking cars around. Especially in all black!

That 3.8 V6 turned out to be a great little engine. The folks had the non turbo version in an 86 Pontiac Bonneville and it would move the car well and could hit 32 to 33 mpg on the highway. The Regal hit 27 and usually was 25 or 26 mpg highway IF you kept your foot reasonably soft! Rear end ratio was different and the aero was probably not as good.

I’ve been feeling the old this week as well. Maybe the cold weather that’s back after some nice days is contributing!

On icy roads with the stock tires, same thing, look out! 😵‍💫 I think the Regal with the Turbo T package was somewhere around 13 or 14. Seemed like a lot of bang for the buck back then. I don’t remember how much the GN added. Difference was wheels, rear spoiler, interior with bucket seats / center console, badging, etc. as I recall.

GNX had a better turbo with a bit more boost, upgrades in the inter-cooler, ported and polished heads, chip to go with those and, again, different wheels. Interior package and badging, etc. A lot of money for what it amounted to, but I think a lot of it was outsourced.

Something interesting I remember was that you could not get electric seats in a Regal with the Turbo T package. Strange quirk that we never found a reason for. It had 60/40 front seats.

Those cars did have some turbo lag in that era, unlike the superchargers. Sounds like todays are improved!

Seems to be poor production, I've heard lots of complaints about not being able to hear him. I watched a video of his performance on youtube and I could hear everything clearly.

OK, some Ford Jeep trivia here:

We all know about the 260,000 Ford GPW's built from 1942-45. But those "1/4 ton truck, 4x4" vehicles were never branded as "Jeep."

"Jeep" became a registered trademark of Willys Motors in 1950. In late 1951, the Government of Canada contracted Ford to provide M38 Jeeps. A total of about 2,135 were made. The first 300 were from kits provided by Willys that still had the "Jeep" logo embossed in big letters on the Body.

So about 300 M38-CDN's built under "Contract E-20 LV7 639 ARMY" were assembled in the Ford, Windsor Ontario Canada factory, and are branded "Jeep" The logo is displayed prominently on the tool box, and also cast into the cylinder head.

My understanding is that the GPW designation was spoken as GEEP and it got, as Calvin said, transmogrified to get the spelling of Jeep. Or so the story goes.
