Heat and sound treatments for high end build

Options and opinions are so plentiful, my head is spinning not sure which way to go.

My tub is in paint right now, I plan to LineX the undercarriage, but am uncertain how best to treat the tub interior. My plan will be to finish everything off with a custom carpet at the end, however wheel wells will remain painted body color.

I will also be treating the hard top before headliner goes in.

My goal is to address both heat (Coyote fed through dual 2.5" exhaust) and sound in the most effective and thorough fashion as I can.

Can Dynamat (or pick your butyl rubber alt) be installed over Linex? Would I want or need to do this?

How do I treat for both heat AND sound?

All expert advice is greatly appreciated!!

Thanks - Doug.

Rather than LineX, you may want to consider something like Lizard Skin, which is designed to block heat and noise to some extent.

https://lizardskin.com/

Dyanmat or any of the similar options can most definitely be used over a spray-on liner, and will only increase the insulation R-factor and sound deadening impact, but at the expense of weight.

I did my undercoat in Lizard skin and Linex the interior. I used butyl rubber on the firewall and doors. I am making mats, backed with Dynamat 11102 Dynaliner that has sound and heat absorption. You might want to consider a single 3" exhaust. I went with a mega sized muffler that really cuts down the noise. That being said the tub still get warm quick. If you are carpeting the tub you could use the butyl for the entire project.

I used KBS embedded with ceramic microspheres. I topped that with butyl (which is for sound) followed by 170 ml closed cell PE Foam (which is for heat and sound). Followed by carpet. I used Noiko butyl and closed cell PE. This was on every inch inside the tub, including the firewall, cowl, and inside the doors, but not the kick panels and not the whole tailgate, just under the carpet on the tailgate. I may eventually do the kick panels but I haven't decided if I will be covering them in carpet or not. The butyl and PE will also go under the headliner. All of it is 100% waterproof. I'm most likely adding a stainless steel heat shield between the Walker muffler and the body, but the final exhaust system isn't in yet.

Things I would do different: Not raptor line the engine bay, I think paint looks better. Use darker grey or just black on frame, like the mid shade grey, but sticks out a little to much.

Things I liked: paint the bottom of the body, not linex it. I love the raptor liner on the interior, followed by dynamatt. Tried the dynapad over the matt and just way to thick, like 1 inch. seats would not fit right. I used ACC matt carpet with the matt backing. Hardtop, factory cardboard headliner, hardtop sealed with dynapad 1/8th inch with sticky side up. Factory interior firewall insulation from WH I think over the dynamat. Quite, cool.

Thanks 73azbronco!

Question: No problems with adhesion of dynamat when applied to the rough surface of a liner?

And... If I lined the interior quarter panels, would Dynamat adhere to a horizontal surface?

Thanks!

Hate to rob the thread however id like to add a few questions for AZ73

I just finished wrapping my Bronco with Noico 80 mill butyl. I also have the Noico RED 315mil on the underside of the dash and firewall.
I was planning on running jute padding for the floorboards all the way to the back however I noticed you put the Noico 315 mill.

Did the Noico red 315 mill on the floorboards front to back work out well for you? Any pros cons?

How about the roof did you put the noico 80 mill butyl and the new Noico red 315 mill under your headliner?

Any peeling issues from summer heat?

This looks great - I've never heard of this product, why this vs dynamat or kill mat etc?

How much material did you need to cover the complete floor font to back?

I did the body colored Raptor Liner on the interior and added the ceramic microspheres to it. My floor never gets hot. I think it does a real good job.

Doubling back here, having Line-X'd the tub top and bottom (left engine bay and interior wheel wells body color) I ended up using a firewall heat and sound insulation kit developed by Agaso Outdoor in collaboration with DEI, Design Engineering Inc. It includes 3 layers for the firewall, separate layer for the under cowl, and a heat layer for the trans tunnel (mounted from below). It's a slick kit and, while I have not yet been able to test it in the real world, looks like it'll do a great job (I've attached some pics.).

If interested: https://www.agasooutdoor.com/shop/e...rol-kit-firewall-cowl-and-transmission-tunnel

I'll still be covering all surfaces with Butyl prior to carpet (except the interior wheel wells), and will line the hartop roof prior to installing headliner (which will be Bronco Hut's fiberglass insert, covered)

I've also attached a pic of my rear quarter panel showing the fresh powder coated rims cause I think they look so BITCHIN'!!!

Sorry, I just saw this 3 months later. I covered everything from under the dash to the tailgate in Noico green 170. I didn't think with the aluminum backed butyl below and carpet on top I would need anything more. I also added the Firewall insulation kit minus the padding. I wish I could tell you how it works, but alas I'm still wiring so it's not running yet. I have at the ready some stainless steel sheet I was planning to put between the muffler and the floorboards and maybe some other places as a heat shield, but I thought I'd wait and see how it's operating first. For the top, which isn't done yet, I'll use the butyl for sound and sturdiness (prevent canning) and some Styrofoam 4X8 sheets from Home depot as seen on another build, followed up by Bronco Graveyard ABS headliner. Can't tell you how that will perform either since it's not done yet.

Ok you got me?!?! What do plan to with the ice cooler under the drivers seat? It’s seems like such wasted space if you don’t have an aux gas tank there to take up the space.

Thank you!!
Thiswildbronco, (gorgeous Bronco by the way) Thank you for the link to Agaso Outdoor. I looked them up this morning, made a phone call, had a wonderful conversation with the the gal that answered the phone in regards to this product. I do believe it is exactly what i have been looking for, tho a bit pricy but heck everything of "quality" is pricy, also I get exactly what I have been envisioning so its a win win as far as I am concerned. I did order it and looking forward to the installing it. Love you guys!!

True, not the cheapest firewall treatment, but it's top notch! You probably spoke with Lisa Cady - she is I believe one of the owners (along with August). They seem like good people with a nice way about Broncos. Glad I could be of help!!!

I can't seem to find any information on the ceramic spheres for raptor liner?

Did you use Al's liner instead?

I used the HY-Tech ceramic beads last summer on a Yota project. Seems to work pretty good.
